Prayer

1. "Do we say our prayers with only the “amen” or the end in mind? Of course not. We pray to be close to our Heavenly Father, to receive His Spirit and feel His love." -President Dieter F. Uchtdorf (Of Regrets and Resolutions. October 2012 General Conference)

2. "Prayer is a supernal gift of our Father in Heaven to every soul. Think of it: the absolute Supreme Being, the most all-knowing, all-seeing, all-powerful personage, encourages you and me, as insignificant as we are, to converse with Him as our Father." -Elder Richard G. Scott (Using the Supernal Gift of Prayer. April 2007 General Conference)

3. "It matters not our circumstance, be we humble or arrogant, poor or rich, free or enslaved, learned or ignorant, loved or forsaken, we can address Him. We need no appointment. Our supplication can be brief or can occupy all the time needed. It can be an extended expression of love andgratitude or an urgent plea for help. He has created numberless cosmos and populated them with worlds, yet you and I can talk with Him personally, and He will ever answer."-Elder Richard G. Scott (Using the Supernal Gift of Prayer. April 2007 General Conference)

4. "An important aspect of prayer is gratitude. Jesus declared, “And in nothing doth man offend God … save those who confess not his hand in all things, and obey not his commandments.” When we contemplate the incomparable gift of prayer and the limitless blessings that flow from it, honest appreciation fills our mind and heart to overflowing with thanksgiving. Should we not, therefore, continually and profoundly express to our beloved Father, as well as we are able, our unbounded gratitude for the supernal gift of prayer and for His answers that meet our needs while motivating us to grow?" -Elder Richard G. Scott (Using the Supernal Gift of Prayer. April 2007 General Conference)

5. "If you and I would truly pray and ask in faith, as did Joseph Smith—if we would pray with the expectation to act and not just to express—then the work of proclaiming the gospel would move forward in a remarkable way." -Elder David A Bednar (Ask in Faith. April 2008 General Conference)

6. "We each have a covenant responsibility to be sensitive to the needs of others and serve as the Savior did—to reach out, bless, and uplift those around us. Often, the answer to our prayer does not come while we’re on our knees but while we’re on our feet serving the Lord and serving those around us. Selfless acts of service and consecration refine our spirits, remove the scales from our spiritual eyes, and open the windows of heaven. By becoming the answer to someone’s prayer, we often find the answer to our own." —President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, (Waiting on the Road to Damascus, Ensign, May 2011)

7. "If we pray with an eternal perspective, we need not wonder if our most tearful and heartfelt pleadings are heard. ... God will heed your sincere and heartfelt prayers, and your faith will be strengthened."— Elder Russell M. Nelson, (Face the Future with Faith, Liahona and Ensign, May 2011)

8. "Not a day has gone by that I have not communicated with my Father in Heaven through prayer. It is a relationship I cherish—one I would literally be lost without. If you do not now have such a relationship with your Father in Heaven, I urge you to work toward that goal. As you do so, you will be entitled to His inspiration and guidance in your life."—President Thomas S. Monson, (Stand in Holy Places, Liahona and Ensign, November 2011)

9. "Heavenly Father hears and answers your prayers of faith for guidance and for help to endure in your service for Him. The Holy Ghost is sent to you and to those you care for. You will be strengthened and yet inspired to know the limits and extent of your ability to serve. The Spirit will comfort you when you may wonder, “Did I do enough?'" -President Henry B. Eyring (The Caregiver CES Fireside, 2004)

10. "First on your “to do” list, put the word prayer. Most of the time, your prayers will be silent. You can think a prayerYou can always have a direct line of communication with your Father in Heaven. Do not allow the adversary to convince you that no one is listening on the other end. Your prayers are always heard. You are never alone!" -Presdient Boyd K. Packer (How to Survive in Enemy Territory. CES Seminary Broadcast. Jan 2012)
